Catholic Charities of West Tennessee of the Diocese of Memphis announces a service day on Monday, Jan. 15. The Food Pantry and Clothes Closet remained open during the Christmas holiday to make sure that our community stayed fed and clothed during the harsh winter weather. In keeping with the commitment to this mission, the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet of Catholic Charities will be open during the holiday on Jan. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., as a way of honoring the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A neighborhood cookout will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dick Hackett, Executive Director, said, “As the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s passing approaches, the eyes of the nation will be looking to Memphis to see how we, as a city, have grown and changed. In keeping with Dr. King’s mission of peace and service, social service agencies should always be open to serve the less fortunate among us. Catholic Charities will serve with volunteer staff on Jan. 15 as a way of paying tribute to Dr. King’s memory and mission.”
