Red Mass celebrated by Catholic Diocese

The Catholic Diocese of Memphis held its annual Red Mass on Friday, September 18, 2015 at St. Peter Church. The Red Mass is celebrated annually for judges, attorneys, law school professors, students, and government officials. The Mass requests guidance from the Holy Spirit for all who seek justice, and offers the opportunity to reflect on what Catholics believe is the God-given power and responsibility of all in the legal profession. Pictured is Bishop J. Terry Steib, SVD, as he approaches the altar with local judges looking on from the first pew. The lector was Robert Rolwing and the homilist was Rev. Benjamin Bradshaw. Gift bearers were the Honorable Louis Montesi and the Honorable Jennie Latta. The Red Mass is sponsored by the Catholic Diocese and the St. Thomas More Catholic Lawyers Guild of West Tennessee, Inc.
