St. Benedict at Auburndale (SBA) High School Principal Sondra Morris announces the appointment of Terri Dickens as the school’s Director of the PLUS Program. PLUS is Positive Learning Utilizing Strategies. It is a signature program, unique at the high school level, serving students having diagnosed learning differences with average to above average intelligence. This program is designed as a college preparation program and is comprised of a rigorous course of study requiring students’ academic diligence. The program is just one of the school’s offerings that include Traditional, Honors, Advanced Placement and Capstone.
Mrs. Dickens is no stranger to the program or SBA, as she previously taught at the school from 1998-2001. Since leaving SBA, she has been a teacher at St. Ann School in Bartlett.
Mrs. Dickens graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Central Arkansas, with some specialization in Special Education. She holds a Masters of Teaching and Learning, Specializing in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University. She will also be teaching in the Math Department. She has two children, who are SBA graduates, and makes her home in Collierville.
Upon the announcement of Mrs. Dickens as the Director of the PLUS Program, Mrs. Morris said, “We are extremely pleased to have Terri join our staff, once again. She has experience in the development of students in all areas of education, but this unique program, PLUS, is one that she is devoted to and knows so well.”
Mrs. Dickens says, “Being a teacher is more than a job; it is a vocation and my passion. The PLUS Program at SBA provides students with the opportunity to excel in a specialized environment to advance to college and become productive citizens. The SBA PLUS Program holds an outstanding reputation and record for producing successful students. I am looking forward to this opportunity to impact the lives of these students through this wonderful program.”
