Religious Education
Bibletimes Marketplace (Vacation Bible School) - Children (Grades 5K - 5), learn how God has worked in the lives of His people by experiencing life in Biblical times. An outdoor setting recreates a typical marketplace of that era. Children are grouped in multi-age tribes, with activities, drama, music, dance, snacks, etc. representative of the period. Youth and adult volunteers are actively sought as the program is organized and conducted entirely by them. Monday - Friday, 9:00 - 12:00, mid July.
Journey to Catholicism (RCIA) - Comprehensive instruction in the Catholic faith for those desiring to become Catholics as well as those interested in learning about or deepening their knowledge of the Faith. Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m., September - Easter.
Religious
Education - ALL Parish Students must be registered and regularly
attending Religious Education Classes, either in a Catholic school
or in Religious Education class on Sunday morning or Wednesday
evening, or registered as being Home Schooled. Students must meet
these requirements in order to be involved in ANY activities of
St. Francis of Assisi Church (e.g. Sports Programs, Choir, Band,
Youth Ministry, Squires in K. of C., Scouts or any other church
activity that may develop. Rolls of classes will be monitored
with each organization. No other activity may conflict with Religious
Education Classes or activity.

Registration for Religious Education classes is generally held in August, please check the bulletin for dates and times. During the year new parishioners may register their students for religious education as they register with the parish. Dates and times for all parish religious education activities are announced in the Sunday bulletin.
In the Diocese of Memphis, First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are received in the spring of the students Second Grade year. Confirmation is administered in the spring of the students Eighth Grade year. Diocesan requirements state that a student must be enrolled in religious education classes for at least one year prior to their sacrament year. Parents of students in a sacrament year are required to attend two (2) parental sacramental classes. The dates and times are listed in the Blue Religious Education Handbook given to you when you register your student, and also in the Sunday bulletin. A copy of the Baptismal Certificate must be provided at sacrament registration. If your student has not been instructed in our faith and/or celebrated the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist, and/or Confirmation at the regular ages, please contact the church office (756-1213) for more information regarding a class for them.
