We need you to join our team of dedicated Catholic schools teachers.

Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your interest and willingness to teach in our Catholic schools in the Diocese of Memphis. We wish you to know that over and above the required professional qualifications, we ask that the candidate for a teaching position in the Catholic schools be:

• a person of faith constantly striving to grow in the spiritual life.
• a person who realizes that he/she contributes services to the Catholic Church by teaching in a Catholic school.
• a person who is cognizant that salaries of teachers in a Catholic school are met through contributions of parents and believers in the Catholic school (i.e. not by any system of taxation.)

We seek teachers who value:

• teaching as a ministry
• the integration of Christian values into the mission, curriculum and life of the school
• a teaching environment with a strong emphasis on standards of excellence
• a holistic approach to education
• quality instruction time, optimum class size, parental involvement, creative and diverse teaching methods

The following steps outline our application procedure:

Complete the Employment Application Form (PDF). Please include a copy of your teaching license or certificate. If you do not have certification, please include a copy of your college transcript.

Your application cannot be processed without these documents.

After completing the application, please mail to Mrs. Janet Donato, Associate Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Diocese of Memphis, 5825 Shelby Oaks Drive, Memphis, TN 38134. Please call a week to ten days after mailing your application to schedule an interview. This interview is required for our approval of you as a teacher candidate.

When approved as a Catholic school teacher applicant, your name and credentials will be included on a Teacher Candidate List.

Your application will remain on file for the duration of the school year. Please contact our office

if you wish to remain on the Teacher Candidate List or if at any time you decide you no longer wish to be on the list.  You can contact our office at 901-373-1219 or email tallie.hodges@cc.cdom.org.

A background check is required for all employees hired in Catholic schools.

A non-refundable processing fee of $15.00 is required to complete this application process. Please make check payable to the Catholic Diocese of Memphis-Department of Education.
