Little Flower Catholic School originally opened in 1930 and was served by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth at that time. Now one of the Jubilee Schools, Little Flower is once again serving the North Memphis area with a Sister of Charity of Nazareth as principal. Currently the school serves pre-kindergarten through first grade students and will be fully operational as a 4K-2nd grade elementary school.
It is the ideal and philosophy of Little Flower School that "all children in the community, regardless of cultural background or economic status, deserve an education which will benefit their minds, assist their spiritual growth, and prepare them to take their places as responsible and productive members of society." The school does this by providing opportunities for the children such as the Second Step Program. This program teaches children skills dealing with being considerate of others.
Writing, phonetic analysis, reading and math are present at every grade level. Little Flower also provides PE and music classes twice a week for all students.
Little Flower School is accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges. Title I is available to students who qualify at Little Flower Catholic School. The school participates in the USDA Free and Reduced Price Lunch Program. An after-school Extended Care program is available, as well. These programs are part of Little Flower's effort "to facilitate optimal learning for all students, while providing them with a spiritual and cultural foundation."
