Our Lady of Sorrows is a Roman Catholic elementary school serving students in grades 4K through 8. The school is located in the Frayser area of Memphis. Founded in 1946 to serve the needs of the families of Italian truck farmers. The faculty was staffed by the sisters of Charity of Nazareth until 1982.
The school is accredited by SACS and classes average 18 students per teacher. Grades 4K through 5 are self-contained for all core subjects. Grades 6-8 offer departmental instruction in Religion, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science. The school offers Music, Choir, Band, Library, Spanish, Physical Education, Art and Computer classes at every grade level.
There is a very active student council representing grades 3-8. The student council publishes a school newspaper and the 8th graders put together the annual. Athletics includes PAA teams in volleyball, soccer, basketball, cheerleading, softball, t-ball and baseball.
