LENTEN OBSERVANCES

All Catholics are called to abstain from meat on all the Fridays of Lent. Likewise, we are obliged to fast and abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. The obligation is binding for all Catholics 14 years of age or older. The obligation to fast, limiting oneself to but one full meal and two lighter meals, is binding for all Catholics from age 18-59. Of course, illness releases one from these obligations.

Alert: Database changes for diocese, parishes

The Diocese of Memphis and its 47 parishes are currently undergoing an unprecedented census data conversion. As a result, a number of families may experience interruption in the weekly delivery of The West Tennessee Catholic. Please be patient with us as we work to ensure more accurate data at the diocesan and parish levels. If you have any problems, please call 373-1209.
