OLPH Hosts Bunny Breakfast

This year the Easter Bunny came hopping over the snow to visit with eager children, parents and their grandparents at the eighth annual, "Breakfast with the Easter Bunny," hosted by the Women's Guild of Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church in Germantown. The event was sponsored by the Guild's Second Vice-Presidents, Nancy Willingham and Luisa Stubbs, with the help and support of many of the Guild members.

Two hundred children, parents and grandparents along with many workers braved the snowy streets Saturday morning to meet and eat with the Easter Bunny, make crafts and play games. Although the blanket of snow precluded the traditional egg hunt, each child received ten treat-filled eggs along with a yummy breakfast, fun, age-appropriate activities and games, which included a cake walk, ring and bean bag tosses and bowling. Children earned "Bunny Bucks," which they in turn used to purchase stuffed animals, grab bags or fun toys.

OLPH Celebrates Annual Parish Mission

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Germantown recently held the annual Parish Lenten Mission. The presenter for the mission was Father Rick Potts, C.Ss.R., who is currently editor-in-chief of the Liguorian Magazine. The theme for the event was God's Abundant Blessings.

Each evening, participants were able to focus on a specific aspect of God's blessings by hearing the Word of God proclaimed and by singing and praying together as a community. Each evening had a specific theme, symbol and activity that helped give a clearer understanding of the theme.

"Through this grace-filled parish mission during this wonderful season of Lent," said Barbara Morelli of the OLPH Communications Commission, "everyone who attended had the opportunity to focus on the abundant blessings of our Heavenly Father. Parish missions provide an opportunity for spiritual growth. As we continue on our Lenten journey, may we all be reminded of the blessings that God has provided for each of us."
