Sisters and brothers,

Happy Easter! Blessed Easter!

I pray that the Resurrection Power of Jesus which changed fearful disciples into bold witnesses may lift your minds and hearts to the marvelous wonder of how much God loves us!

I pray that the Risen Savior may transform your lives so that you may be spirit-filled proclaimers of the Good News: "He is Risen! Alleluia!"

Happy Easter! Blessed Easter! Alleluia!

"Resurrexit, alleluia —

He is risen, alleluia!"

Alert: Database changes for diocese, parishes

The Diocese of Memphis and its 47 parishes are currently undergoing an unprecedented census data conversion. As a result, a number of families may experience interruption in the weekly delivery of The West Tennessee Catholic. Please be patient with us as we work to ensure more accurate data at the diocesan and parish levels. If you have any problems, please call 373-1209.

Sacred vessels used at Mass include, clockwise from left, a chalice, ciborium and paten. According to the new Vatican document on liturgy, vessels for the Lord's body and blood “must be made in strict conformity with the norms of tradition and of the liturgical books.” Common vessels, those lacking in quality or devoid of all artistic merit, those made from glass, earthenware, clay, or other materials that break easily, should not be used, according to the document “Redemptionis Sacramentum” (“The Sacrament of Redemption”), written by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments.
