St. Ann Church To Celebrate Anointing Of The Sick
St. Ann Parish in Bartlett will celebrate the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick with a Mass and luncheon on Saturday, May 17 at 11 a.m. Father Richard Coy, pastor, along with associate pastors, Father Elbert Callis and Father John Hourican will celebrate the special Mass and administer the anointing.
The Anointing of the Sick is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church and includes readings from scripture, prayers and making the Sign of the Cross with Holy Oil on the recipients' forehead and palms.
Father Coy, explained, "The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick extends the healing ministry of Christ and responds to the call in the Letter of St. James, `Is there anyone who is sick? He should send for the church elders, who will pray for him and rub olive oil on him in the name of the Lord.' The Letter of St. James tells us that this prayer will heal the sick, restore their health and forgive their sins. Any Catholic whose physical or mental health is impaired by sickness or age is invited to attend the Mass and to receive the sacrament."
Pews will be reserved near the front of the church for those who are physically impaired. The church has three automatic entrances for the disabled. A luncheon in the parish's Trinity Hall, hosted by the Ministry to the Sick, will follow Mass.
St. Ann Catholic Church is located at 6529 Stage Road at the corner of Charles Bryan Rd in Bartlett. The main parking lot is located on the south side of the St. Ann campus accessible from either Altruria Road or Charles Bryan Road. Parking for the disabled is also available on the north side of the church.
