Germantown Knights Donations Total $100,000

The Germantown Knights of Columbus Council has donated more than $100,000 to Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Memphis.

Frank P. Lamanna, Sr., scholarship chairman, and Tony DiMaiolo, Grand Knight of the Germantown Council 7449, presented checks totaling $10,000 for the schools to Dr. Mary McDonald, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Memphis.

"Each year for the past 12 years, the Council has made generous donations to our schools. Now those donations have resulted in more than $100, 000 to help our students realize their dreams through our scholarship fund," said Dr. McDonald.

The recent checks were presented in honor of Jim Arnold, a deceased Brother Knight of the Council who was instrumental in fundraising.

Past recipients of donations include Bishop Byrne High, Memphis Catholic High, Christian Brothers High, Holy Rosary Elementary, Immaculate Conception Elementary, Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary, St. Augustine Elementary, St. Anne Elementary, St. Benedict at Auburndale High, St. Louis Elementary, St. Michael Elementary and St. Paul Elementary.

All monies go into scholarship endowment funds at specific schools and are earmarked for students that require assistance based on financial need as determined by the pastor and principal.
