Youth Materials Available

By Mary Beth Bolton Diocesan Resource Librarian

The Diocesan Resource Library has recently added several new DVDs for youth ministry. Among them is Surviving School. In four brief clips, today's high school students will see situations they witness every day. The film is designed to create thoughts and discussion on the issues, about what choices young people might make in a similar situation. The topics are: Not Alone; The Test; Don't Be a Statistic; and Gossip.

Another DVD is entitled Moooooo! These six short clips show a different way to approach situations we all run into, all with a good dose of fun.

Teens vs. Parents is a four-part Bible study for youth groups. Mark Matlock gives practical and Biblical instruction to help teens repair and build healthy relationships with their parents, and find new ways to understand, communicate, and forgive their parents. The four topics are: The Myth of a Perfect Family; Living up to Expectations; Authority and Rebellion; and Friend or Foe? This set includes 2 DVDs, each about 20 minutes long, a leader's guide, and printable handouts for the group.

The Resource Library is also available online at the diocesan website at www.cdom.org. Just click on the red "Resource Library" button and follow the instructions. To reserve items, visitors to the website must register and receive a personal client barcode.

The Diocesan Resource Library is a regular lending library, loaning videos, DVDs, and books for two weeks to anyone in the diocese, or in the Midsouth area.

The library is located in The Catholic Center, 5825 Shelby Oaks Drive. Library hours are from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call Mary Beth Bolton at 901-373-1226, or send an email to Marybeth.bolton@cc.cdom.org for more information.
