Brother Vincent Malham, F.S.C.
CBU Loses Dedicated Educator

The Diocese of Memphis has lost a true Christian shepherd with the death of Brother Vincent Malham, F.S.C. Brother Vincent, president
of Christian Brothers University, was killed May 2 in a car accident in Louisiana. He was 73.
Brother Vincent was returning to Memphis after visiting his sister in Louisiana when the car he was driving crossed the center lane and
collided head-on with a pickup truck. The people in the truck were not seriously injured.

President Bush Commends Memphis Jubilee Schools

The White House Summit on Inner City Children and Faith-Based Schools was held in Washington, DC on April 24. The summit
gathered together leaders in education, government, and philanthropy, as well as the corporate and business communities for a day-long program
to address the challenges these schools face and to explore strategies to protect these schools for generations to come. Speakers for the
summit included the Honorable Margaret Spellings, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education; the Honorable Karl Zinsmeister, Assistant to
the President for Domestic Policy; the Honorable Jay Hein, White House Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, as well
as leaders representing educational and public policy options and community solutions.
